How to check your vehicle insurance status - Procedure to check the expiry of Vehicle insurance

While living in KSA, vehicle insurance is compulsory for all vehicles. If you don't have insurance or your insurance is expired and you caught up in an accident there will be heavy penalty and might be prison if you can't afford the accident expense.

Always check your vehicle insurance its expired or not. You can easily check the vehicle insurane by following below easy steps


Steps to check Vehicle Insurance Status


Go to http://moi.gov.sa/

Change the language from Arabic to English


Click on Electronic Inquires > Public vehicle insurance validity



Enter Iqama Number, Plate Number , Image code and click on view button. It will show you the status of your vehicle.


Health insurance will be compulsory for visit visa holders starting from next month

The Cooperative Health Insurance Council will begin implementing compulsory health insurance on expatriate visitors from next month.

However, Haj and Umrah pilgrims, diplomats and visitors to foreign missions and international organizations for the purpose of diplomatic work as well as guests of the State are exempt from compulsory health insurance.

The Cooperative Health Insurance Council has licensed seven cooperative health insurance companies to carry out electronic sale of policies and implement health insurance on visiting expatriates.

Cooperative health insurance will include all applicants for entry visas to the Kingdom for the purpose of visit or transit as well as dependents of expats.

The Cooperative Health Insurance Council had approved medical insurance policy for visitors and their dependents with a maximum premium of SR100,000 covering emergency cases.

The expenses will cover all medical check-ups, diagnosis, treatment, medicines, hospitalization expenses, pregnancy and delivery cases, dental and gum diseases, dental filling, root canal, extraction of pus, emergency renal dialysis cases, medical evacuation within the Kingdom and abroad, and injuries due to traffic accidents. The expenses also cover preparation and repatriation of the insured visitor’s body to his or her home country.

Procedure to check the health insurance online

Its very important to have health insurance of you and your family while living in KSA because medical is very expensive in KSA. Always take care of the health insurance expiry so that you can avoid any issues.

Points to take care if you are using Rent a car

The procedure of reporting a road accident on rent a car is same as explained in our post Accident Procedure in Saudi Arabia. 

You just need to care the following points


Rented Company have third part insurance


  • If fault in accident is your, go to rented company with the receipt provided by the Najm
  • Company will take the car and they will fine you accordingly to their rules
  • If fault in accident is not yours, go to rented company with the receipt provided by the Najm
  • They will take the car and no charges on your side

Rented Company have comprehensive insuranc


  • Rented companies have their own policies for comprehensive insurance, In case if fault is your some companies take the charges starts from 500-2000. Always discuss this point with your company before taking any car on rent
  • If fault in accident is your, go to rented company with the receipt provided by the Najm
  • Company will take the car and they will fine you accordingly to their rules
  • If fault in accident is not yours, go to rented company with the receipt provided by the Najm
  • They will take the car and no charges on your side

    Accident Procedure in Saudi Arabia

    Being expat we face so many issues if caught in a road accident because most of expats don't know the the rules , procedures and most challenging thing is language issue. In this article we will try to explain what to do if you face any road accident.


    The most point you need to note is NAJM (Contact#920000560) is the organization in KSA who handling accident cases with below reasons

    - Your vehicle had an accident while no one was driving it.
    - Your vehicle was damaged by a stone during driving.
    - Your vehicle was damaged by a stone while no one was driving it.
    - Your vehicle had an accident on the highway, but you couldn’t stop and drove your damaged car to your home.

    If your accident case is other than the above reasons, then you must call the Traffic Police

    Accident Reporting Procedures

    In case you get in a traffic accident, please always….
    - Make sure of your safety and anyone with you.
    - Take great care when getting out of your vehicle.
    Thus, it is essential to follow the following steps:
    • Notifying the traffic police if you don’t have a valid insurance policy in time of accident or in case that there are injuries or dead persons or fires.
    • Notifying the company if you do have a valid insurance policy in time of accident on our toll free customer service center no. 920000560.
    Make sure you have following documents before call to NAJM:

    Driving License
    Istamara of the Car (The car should be at your name or you should be authorized to drive it)
    Iqama
    Car Insurance



    • Provide the basic information where possible (name of informer_ I.D / Iqama no._ mobile no. _ no. of car's plate_ the type of the car_ insurance policy no._ insurance company name_ city_ accident location_ any distinguished or outstanding signs of the accident).
    • Inform if the cars involved in the accident can be moved or not.
    • Be sure to note the number of the case and date of the accident (given by the recipient of the call center) to facilitate the procedure of following up you case with insurance company in the future.
    • NAJM will provide you the accident report, before signing the report you can ask NAJM about who's fault

    Post-Accident procedures

     

    •  Visit the Vehicle assessment office, you can visit this location (24.789988,46.679553) or (24.634033,46.74442)
    • If you don't know arabic, you can bring some of your friend with you who knows arabic
    • Try to reach there in early morning , so you can done every thing very quickly
    • They will take 30SAR from you and then they give you three papers. Two papers for repairing labor cost and one paper for the spare parts.
    • Take the accessories paper and visit nearest shop, take help of the estimate to locate the shop it will be near to you
    • Go to the shop and then  he will take 30SAR and stamp you with the estimated cost of spare parts
    • Come back to same station again, they will now finalize the assessment. Now you will have three papers, visit the office inside and they will stamp the final papers.
    • Take those papers to you insurance company with Istamara,Iqama,Driving License
    • Claim for insurance , there are two options for claim ( by cheque, by bank transfer)
    • You will receive your claim accordingly to the selected service
